The two Late Bronze Age settlement layers of Zug Sumpf yielded remains oflog constructions and other types of timber architecture, as well as large amounts exceptionally well preserved artefacts, made of pottery, bronze, glass, and other materials. This pile dwelling site was the first one discovered in Canton Zug, in 1859, but was not excavated until the 1920s/30s, and again in the 1950s. Still, large parts of the lake dwelling settlement remain untouched.
